This painting was inspired by the view that one has atop Mount Soledad. Soledad mountain is a prominent landmark in the city of San Diego, California and is in La Jolla. On a clear day looking south one can see into Mexico over our skyline. Mission bay is in the foreground and I-8 was the main artery from east county to the beach. Our skyline today has changed a lot since I was a kid and San Diego was known for being a Navy town.
